EURASIA BLOCK CONTAINER TRAIN
The railways administrations of the countries on South Eurasia corridor (Turkey, Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan), have come together under the umbrella of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) and prepared a container train project to serve between "Almaty - Tashkent - Tehran - Istanbul" for the purpose of creating a modern, fast, and secure railroad service for cargo transport by taking the existing administrative potential into consideration.
Tests services of "Eurasia Block Container Train" had been performed between January 2002 and June 22 nd , 2002 and from this date on the train started its regular services.
The train departs from Haydarpasa station on every Saturday at 00:05.

MANNER OF TRANSPORT
- Block container unit can be loaded at Freight ( Ankara ) Station or the container wagons coming from Alsancak (Izmir) and Mersin warehouses can be hitched onto this unit.
- Containers are transferred at Sarakhs/ Turkmenistan Border Station by reason of different track gauges and bogie change is not possible.
- The weight of container for 40 feet container loadings is maximum gross 32 tons.
- For receiving the delivering the containers, SMGS transport document between Almaty and Razi and CMO transport document between Razi and Haydarpasa are prepared.
- At least a container of 40 feet or two containers of 20 feet are loaded on a wagon.
- TCDD does not own containers. The containers are required to be provided by the goods owners.
MODE OF PAYMENT
For the export goods loaded containers originating from our country and for the combined transit trnaposrt originating from our country, the freightage and additional expenses for Turkish corridor and Iranian corridor will be collected form the dispatcher at the departure station.
The freightage and additional expenses between Sarakhs and the arrival point will be paid by the receiver at the arrival station or by freight forwarding companies signed an agreement with one of the state railways.
For the block containers coming our country, the part between the departure station and Kapiköy border will be paid by the dispatcher at the departure station or by
freight forwarding companies signed agreements with all of the state railways to the railways administration concerned.
