PORT CHARACTERISTICS
LPILOTAGE- Pilotage is compulsory for vessels entering or leaving the port.
TOWAGE- Towage is not necessary for the vessels up to 2000 GRT.
These services are provided by the Turkish Maritime Organization (TDI) round the clock.
SEA CRAFTS- One floating crane of 90 tons capacity and one mooring boat are available in the port.
HANDLING EQUIPMENT- The container handling operations are carried out by 5 gantry cranes of 40 tons capacity, 10 rubber tired transtainers of 40 tons capacity, and 15 reach stackers of 25 to 42 tons capacity and 14 empty container forklifts of 8 to 10 tons capacity. In addition, 12 mobile cranes of 5 to 25 tons capacity, 21 short mast forklifts (Diesel+electric) and 1 loader are also available.
Reefer facilities suitable for reefer containers are also available. There is also a washing-drying facility in the port.
Two MHC cranes of 100 tons capacity are also present in the port.
BULK CARGO FACILITY- Two concrete grain silos belonging to TMO (Turkish Grain Board) and having a total 70.000 tons capacity are available and there is a conveyor system connection with the quay.
PASSENGER FACILITIES- As Izmir is very close to the touristic and historical places on the Aegean Sea coasts, the port has significant passenger traffic.
