Block Container Train Operation;
In this connection, the transportation, by using containers, is carried out with block trains running between Turkey and European countries. Thus, competition is created in transportation time and costs and door-to-door transportation is actualized.
The above mentioned block container transportation in European traffic is organized by ICF (Intercontainer - Interfrigo) and other firms.
Middle East Railway Transportation

from Turkey to Iraq through Nusaybin station transiting Syria .
TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM CIS COUNTRIES
Freight transportation from CIS countries to Turkey and from Turkey to CIS countries is carried out in three ways. As there is no tariff unity between CIS countries and our country, a forwarder should be used by the consigners in Romania , Bulgaria and Iran .
1-Transportation through Iran
As there are differences between the gauges of Turkey and CIS countries, axles of the wagons should be changed or the wagons should be transferred in Sarakhs station which is in the border of Turkmenistan and Iran . In the transportations from our country to CIS countries by using TCDD wagons, as the axles of the wagons cannot be changed, there should be a transfer into CIS wagons in Sarakhs station. In the transportations from our country to CIS countries, loadings can be done by TCDD wagons in any of our stations open to international freight transportation or by CIS wagons to be brought to Van.
The consignors that wish to do loadings to CIS wagons should apply in written to Freight Department at least 7 days before the loading day. The sample for the application is given below.
Due to the fact that the CIS wagons are larger in size, the wagons used in the transportations carried out from CIS countries to Turkey can only be brought to Van station. The freights from CIS countries to beyond Van Station should be transferred into TCDD's wagons in Iran or vice versa.
SAMPLE REQUEST
In order to be used in our firm's transportation(s) from Van Station to CIS countries, we demand .. (pieces & type) type CIS wagons to be brought. We declare that we agree to pay all TCDD's receivables to be incurred in case of not actualizing the loadings of the wagons to be brought.

3- Transportation through Romania
Railway transportation from Turkey to CIS countries or vice versa is possible by transfer in Romania, Moldavia and Ukraine border.
Transit Transport Combinations with Railway Connection:
By using the railway transport system, it is also possible to perform transportations with other modes of transportation. It is possible to carry out combined transit transportation via connections of maritime + rail route and land route + rail route through the ports that have railway connections and are operated by TCDD (Haydarpasa, Alsancak, Mersin, Bandirma, Samsun, Derince, Iskenderun ports).
Combined transport provides an advantageous way of transportation for long-distance carriage and it creates an alternative transportation corridor from European countries to Near-East countries or Central-Asia countries.
Moreover, combined transit transportation of goods and export can also be performed with different types of wagons that exist in TCDD's fleet.
Alternative Transport System with Railway Connection ;
It is possible to carry out railway transportation operations to Romania and the countries beyond, via train-ferry operation between Derince (Turkey) and Constanza (Romania) ports.
New Applications in Freightage:
Within the framework of the measures taken by our establishment for the purpose of increasing the goods transport through railway, reductions at different rates are applied under the international goods tariff. This way, it is aimed to create a competitive environment for railways with the other transport ways in terms of freightage.
